Marriages disintegrate for a variety of reasons. It's important to note that most marriages were good at one time; otherwise vows wouldn't have been taken in the first place. Something goes bad. I think in most cases what goes wrong is a fatal break in the special connection that got you to the alter in the first place.

That special connection is called love, and it's the driving force behind our needs for trust, communication, support and sexual intimacy. Those four needs evolve over the life of a marriage, and, when they are really out of sync in a marriage, trouble looms.

I think sexual intimacy and a fulfilling sex life often reflect a marriage that is healthy in the areas of trust, communication and support. Vasectomy...now, later or never?

Many couples say that trying to get pregnant can be a lot of work. The pressure to "perform" can be intense and often the process is more work than fun.
